Course programme

What stands out about this course?

English Literature is an ideal choice if you love reading and books, as well as being interested in the big questions affecting human existence. It is also a highly respected A Level for university entry in many subjects. You will study a wide range of books and short texts including novels, plays and poetry and will look at the ways that authors use language to build characters and explore themes, and you will learn about different approaches towards literature and consider questions such as: ‘Is there a right way and a wrong way to understand a novel or poem, or is it all a matter of opinion?’. You will have the opportunity to produce original writing as part of your coursework.
