The aim of this top-up programme is to give existing paramedic practitioners the opportunity to widen their academic portfolios, as well as build upon clinical knowledge through the integration of theory and practice. It aims to enable the Paramedic to lead and develop out-of-hospital care, and to be able to critically appraise their own and others’ practice.

Entry Requirements 2017/18 Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a paramedic. Minimum of 12 months post-registration experience working as a paramedic. Evidence of achievement of a DipHE in a relevant subject, or equivalent. Evidence of continuing professional development during clinical career. Course programme
The programme is made up of 5 core modules which accrue a total of 120 credits at Level 6. The programme is designed to offer a two or three year part-time pathway, however these options are not prescriptive and some flexibility is available for students with up to a maximum of 5 years in which to complete the programme. Students choosing to adopt an alternative pathway would need to speak with the course leader to discuss the practicality of their proposed plan of study.
