In the times of ancient Rome the phrase "bread and games", or "bread and circuses" identified the only remaining cares of a Roman populace. Roman politicians passed laws to keep the votes of poorer citizens by giving out cheap food and entertainment. Centuries passed, but nothing has changed, as entertainment still remains one of the most important wants of modern society.

The society's growing interest in active leisure activities promotes the development of new experiences and entertainment, organization and running of events. The scale and idea of events, technical solutions are becoming more complex. Therefore, the event development process requires producers with good managerial, communication skills, good understanding of creative processes, the abilities to satisfy market demands, forecast and anticipate future perspectives, and innovative product development skills.

Entertainment industry is one of the fastest growing sectors of both Lithuanian and global economy. Entertainment is not only events, but also an intrigue that strengthens creative activities. The most important quality of an entertainment industry professional is their ability to organize team work, creativity and the ability to develop one's self. Such specialists are able to organize events of state importance or receptions in at the Presidential Palace, concerts in arenas or stadiums, and rejoice remote rural population.

Entertainment Industry study programme teaches its graduates to develop various events and performances: theatrical, sports, educational, or music. Students not only learn the organizational ins and outs of events, but also acquire knowledge of event funding and marketing. Additionally, the graduates of the programme gain IT skills, necessary for the development of video and/or graphic content.

The ability to apply communication strategies, management and economics knowledge in a context of a specific service and changes in the market;
The ability to analyze entertainment industry's development possibilities;
