Acadia’s Environmental and Sustainability Studies (ESST) major develops environmental leaders, managers and professionals who are critical and insightful thinkers as well as creative problem solvers. About this course
Environmental and Sustainability Studies is an interdisciplinary subject that will challenge you to combine skills and knowledge from a variety of different fields. You will gain a more complete understanding of natural and human environments, and you will be ready to lead change.
ESST is academically challenging with a focus on interdisciplinary learning that takes a conceptual problem-solving approach to understanding and tackling major sustainability issues in society. Our experiential learning approach serves to integrate both the conceptual and applied aspects of the program. Service to the community and society through engaged learning opportunities is the cornerstone of your Acadia experience. Through these experiences, you will further develop your sense of citizenship, especially with respect to environmental and sustainable stewardship.
