Why MSci Environmental Health and Practice?
Environmental health practitioners (EHP) are able to make a real difference to public health and wellbeing through effectively managing elements in the natural and built environment. This means there is increasing demand for qualified professionals across the public and private sectors in the UK and worldwide. But in order to work as an EHP, practitioners are required to pass an accredited undergraduate or Masters degree in Environmental Health as well as completing three professional assessments.
Why study our course?
As the only Integrated Masters in Environmental Health and Practice in the UK, this four-year course will equip you with the knowledge, skills and experience to go straight into a career in this rewarding field. You will study earth sciences, the environment, public health, housing and sector legislation. You will examine how best to manage varied situations using different systems and approaches. And you will develop confidence and skills applying these on scenarios, simulations and placements.
On graduation, all you need is to pass a professional interview with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) in order to become a registered EHP.
Real world experience
Thanks to our partnerships with local authorities, housing associations, consultancies and Public Health England, you will get valuable experience on a series of short placements and interventions. Whether assessing risk, the environment, or conducting audits, you'll meet practitioners and put learning into practice on field trips and site visits. During your final year, you will complete your Portfolio of Professional Practice (PPP) so you can qualify for professional registration.
Where it can take you
As a qualified EHP, you can go into a diverse range of careers with local authorities, consultancies, housing associations, the NHS or the armed forces. This might be working in disciplines ranging from environmental...
