What will I study?

Duration:
One year for AS Level and a further year to complete A Level.

Do I need any additional qualifications/ skills?
An awareness of current environmental issues and a willingness to participate in the discussion of these.

How will I be assessed?
The AS course is assessed through two written exams. One paper (worth 40% of the marks) is taken in January and the other (worth 60%) in the summer. The examinations have a structured question format and longer responses will be required in some questions. A2 is assessed by two written exams, including shorter questions, essays and a question of a practical nature.

What can I do afterwards?
Previous students have gone on to study a range of related degree courses including ecology and environmental management. There are a wide range of employment opportunities involving outdoor work.

Are there any additional costs involved?
The basic course textbook is not yet available, but will be a required purchase shortly after the begining of the course. Fieldwork is carried out locally and may involve a charge.
