The objective of this course is to explore and explain the meaning of equality and diversity and demonstrate the need for understanding in attitude and culture, whilst providing the underpinning knowledge and skills to work effectively in a diverse environment. This will be achieved by allowing participants:

2. To debate court cases relating to use of Equal Ops laws/acts and show a clear understanding of the outcome of each case.
3. To acknowledge the impact of behaviour on others.
4. To undertake exercises that highlight the way differences are used to stereotype people, and discuss the dangers of stereotyping.
5. To identify ways in which they feel they can be discriminated against, describe differing groups of people, and show a good awareness of making assumptions and stereotyping.
6. To identify the meaning of direct and indirect discrimination and positive action, and complete an exercise to show understanding.
7. To recognise how unacceptable and damaging any sort of prejudice or discrimination is (which will include discrimination around race, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation and religion and belief).
8. To understand what the responsibilities are under current anti discriminatory legislation.
