Where does it lead?

To more advanced ESOL and other studies, for example Access. If you achieve IELTS at Level 6.5, you can progress to degree level study at university.

Other information

The course takes up 4 hours 20 minutes per week. If you need a class at a lower level and you wish to study for more hours, you can either enrol on our part-time Community Education course or join our full-time International Foundation for Academic Study programme.

This course is suitable for you if you are studying a GCSE or Advanced level course or you plan to apply for an academic programme. You will work towards an English Language qualification which will enable you to progress to further academic study either at college or at university. The classes will also help you to develop the English Language skills you will need to succeed in academic studies at all levels, with work on all four skills and grammar and vocabulary development. You are advised to buy a copy of the main textbook - this will be available at the College. This class is open to both full-time and part-time students. Our classes are taught by experienced teachers who are also IELTS (International English Language Testing Skills for Life) examiners.
