About this course

In this program, you'll focus on improving your workplace skills while also earning your ECE Level 1 that will qualify you to start working in a childcare setting. You'll work on skills development including problem solving and conflict resolution skills, writing and communication skills and resume and job search skills.

Once you complete the program, you'll be prepared to work as an Early Childhood Educator where you'll plan and organize activities for preschool and school-aged children. You'll also lead children in activities to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical, social and emotional growth.

  • Child Guidance 1 (HUMD 183): January 3-March 9, 2023
  • Health, Safety, and Nutrition (ECE 142): March 13-May 25, 2023
  • Essential skills, employment skills and safety training will run throughout the year
Completion of ECE 106, ECE 142 and HUMD 183 meet the Ministry's minimum training requirements for Level 1 Early Childhood Education certification and qualifies you to receive a Certificate of Achievement from Saskatchewan Polytechnic. These three courses are also recognized as dual credit allowing you to simultaneously earn Saskatchewan Polytechnic and Grade 12 credits.
