Graduating students will be able to: Demonstrate a critical understanding of the concepts, models and theories applied in the study of the European Union. Apply critically the main concepts, models and theories applied in the study of public policy. Demonstrate substantive knowledge of EU institutions, the EU policy process and EU policy development in key sectors. Suitable for: The programme is suitable for people working in, or wishing to embark upon, careers in the civil service, journalism, policy research, pressure groups, local government, further and higher education, and public or private sector management, or people with a desire to learn more about European public policy.

* Second-class degree or equivalent.
* Evidence of English language proficiency.
* Previous studies in the social sciences would be advantageous, but are not essential.

MSc European Public Policy
Full-Time Programme
This programme has been designed to provide you with the full range of tools to analyse the contemporary public policy-making process in the complex, multi-level system of the EU as well as European states. It will enable you to develop an advanced understanding of the functioning of the European Union, and its impact on national political systems and modes of public policy-making. It is based on a broad conception of what ‘Europe' is, since it encompasses both the EU and individual states.
Study rResources
Birkbeck Library has an extensive teaching collection of books and journals in politics and sociology. It also has an impressive range of electronic resources, including bibliographic databases and over 17,000 electronic journals. Most of these resources can be accessed via the Internet 24 hours a day. It is worth spending some time on the Library website to familiarise yourself with its collections and services.
Students can also take advantage of the rich research collections nearby, including those of the Senate House Library, the British Library of Political and Economic Science (LSE Library) and the British Library.

Objectives
Graduating students will be able to:
