Interested in learning how events are developed, planned and managed? Or maybe you like the idea of running your own events company. Whether you want to work for a leading events organisation, or start your own events business, this course will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed for a successful career.
Our tutors have a wealth of professional experience in the industry. They’ve worked within operations management for UK and international tour companies, and for global organisations such as Formula 1.
The course has a diverse visit programme to events in the UK and abroad. Previous visits have included Barcelona, the 2012 Olympic Games, The World Travel Market and Travel Technology Europe.
You'll also have the chance to work in industry on internal and external projects. Recent projects have included 'Totally Locally' and 'The Time to be in Stoke-on-Trent' - a student-led conference involving keynote presentations from leading local figures. You'll work mainly in the classroom, with field trips, practical workshops, online debates and guest lectures.

The world of events management is a diverse one. During this course we’ll give you a deep understanding of the industry and the skills needed to pursue a variety of careers within it.

In your first year, you’ll learn explore the various types of events and how they relate to tourism and gain an understanding of accounting and finance for events. You’ll also focus on entrepreneurial marketing and how to manage employees in events. You’ll then move on to learn about the planning and strategy of events before carrying out your own event management project.
You’ll be given opportunities to go on work placements. This gives you the chance to put your new skills into action and can help you fine-tune your future career choice.
With the guidance of our teaching team, we’ll also help you develop the soft, but crucial skills needed in this industry, such as how to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, time management and decision-making.
