Excavation assistant course

The excavation assistant is the professional figure who collaborates with the archaeologist in the reconstruction of the history of a territory or a site by analyzing and interpreting the witnesses of the civilizations found there. It also carries out research and study activities, carries out the planned excavation interventions, catalogs the finds found, ordering and filing them. Moreover, this figure collaborates with archaeological service companies that offer services in the construction sites of areas subject to a declaration of archaeological interest or in all cases in which the Superintendency requests the presence of assistance on the construction site for earth moving. The professional figure of the excavation assistant works closely with the archeologists for the reconstruction and discovery of the ancient finds of a population. Although it is the figure of the archaeologist who emerges most at the time of new discoveries, the excavation assistant also plays a decisive role in manual operations. The excavation assistant's work takes place in close collaboration with the professional figure of the archaeologist. The excavation assistant participates in the research and manual excavations, often supported by the use of specific means, in an archaeological site, subsequently analyzing the finds that can be connected to an ancient civilization to establish its habits and the remains left behind. Currently, within the Italian territory, there are no specific rules governing the profession of excavation assistant and there are no specific essential requirements. The training course to become an excavation assistant preferably includes
