You will study modules totaling 120 credits in the year. All students study a 20 credit module – Research Skills for Medics, and carry out an independent Research Project to integrate the knowledge they have accumulated over the year.

About this course
The course aims to enable understudies to: Students who successfully complete this module will, with the support of a supervisor, be able to:
Demonstrate an ability to use relevant literature to justify a specific research question and associated hypotheses;
Plan and conduct study designs that test a specific research questions and hypotheses;
Gain a basic awareness of ethical issues;
Select, execute and interpret appropriate statistical tests;
Interpret their research findings in relation to current knowledge and indicate how these might inform practice;
Communicate their research project in poster or oral format, demonstrating an ability to answer questions about the project following the presentation;
Present a written report that effectively communicates the completed, viable, research project and thier understanding of it.
Intercalated degrees enable medical students to gain a scientific perspective of sport and exercise; for example, as a form of treatment for a variety of conditions as well as how to implement behaviour change in order to achieve positive outcomes regarding the rehabilitation and prevention of diseases (e.g. diabetes).
This degree is aimed at medical students who have successfully completed the requisite number of years in Medical School and wish to gain a BSc to specialise or gain experience in the field of Exercise, Behaviour Change and Disease Prevention.
