This unique theory and practical course considers the basic science of open kinetic chain and closed kinetic chain exercise with regard to joint biomechanics, neurological effects, muscle adaptations, specificity of training, and treatment progression criteria. Emphasis is placed on the advantages, disadvantages, roles, and clinical application of both modes of exercise according to the stage of rehabilitation. Knee ligament injury, patellofemoral pain syndrome, and lateral ankle ligament injury are considered in detail. Extensive reference is made to the most up-to-date published and unpublished evidence from the international scientific community. Past course delegates have included clinicians from the National Health Service, Premier League Rugby Union, Premier League Football, and the British Armed Forces.
