Exercise Studies Course
This course is designed for those who wish to improve their understanding of the general national agenda for a fitter nation to contribute to reduce strain of health service. Employers benefit from increased awareness from staff regarding healthy lifestyle (less absence etc).
It allows employers to promote holistic approach to staff development by focusing on aspects other than vocational development.
The programme supports candidates to be able to take a first step in physical exercise so they do not need to be currently active. It is suitable for anyone with any level of sports ability who is interested in improving their performance, enhancing their development and gaining an understanding of the benefits of exercise and fitness.
The Certificate in Exercise Studies aims to:
Provide an understanding of the benefits of exercise and fitness
Enable candidates to identify and improve their own levels of fitness
Encourage candidates to adopt a fitter, and therefore healthier lifestyle
Provide candidates with the confidence and motivation to engage in further study and/or career development

Syllabus
Unit 1: Understand the principles of exercise and fitness
Unit 2: Demonstrate an understanding of safety factors relating to exercise
Unit 3: Apply the principles of a training programme
Study HoursThis is only an approximate figure and is dependant upon how much time you can dedicate to your studies and how well you grasp the learning concepts in the course material. Furthermore, at the end of each lesson there is a question paper that needs to be completed and returned to your tutor. You should allow at least 1 - 2 hours of study to complete each question paper.
The approximate amount of time required to complete the course is: 30 hrs.
