Delivered in partnership with Open Study College this course will provide students with the basics of nutrition, handling and the legislation around keeping exotic animals.


Online learning provides an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in exotic animals to enhance their knowledge in this exciting and very rewarding sector.

Students looking to enrol onto this course should meet the following criteria:
Be aged 16 Years or above
Possess a solid knowledge of the english language
Have access to a PC and the internet for the duration of the whole course
Basic computer skills: e.g Word processing, emailing, uploading documents etc
Have a genuine desire to succeed

Course Syllabus

Learners will complete 6 units of study in total as listed below.

6 tutor marked assignment to complete.

  • Principles of person-centred thinking and planning
  • Principles of care planning for the care worker
  • Principles of nutrition and hydration in health and social care settings
  • Principles of supporting an individual to maintain personal hygiene
  • Understanding continence care
  • Provide support for sleep
Assessment

Learners will be required to complete a series of tutor marked assignments ( normally 1 after each unit) as they progress through this course. Each assignment will contain a variety of tasks/questions. These assignments are assessed by your tutor to monitor progress. You will be provided with constructive feedback to help you in completing each unit to the required standard.

Additional information

Students have a maximum of one year to complete. Course duration approx. 80 hours.
