2. Course description During this course you will learn how to work effectively with agricultural machinery in a range of landbased situations, both on our farm and in the workshops.A key part of the learning experience will be undertaking fun and challenging projects which include a 24-hour ploughing marathon, grass and maize forage harvesting operations, autumn crop establishment and large scale materials handling exercises.You will also have the opportunity to become part of the 'Lackham Ballistic' tractor pulling team, running a high performance tractor on the national circuit during your second year. These activities are all designed to develop your skills, understanding, teamwork and confidence to meet the challenges of working in the Farm Mechanisation sector.

Entry requirements 4 GCSEs grade A*-C including Maths, English and Science or equivalent (or at least a 'Merit' grade for those progressing from the Level 2 Diploma in Land-based Technology)An aptitude testA good referenceA satisfactory interview 4. Equipment required Learners are expected to supply their own protective boots and overalls, writing equipment, clipboard and calculator, and contribute towards the costs of trips and visits.Some visits are an integral part of this course, such as the National Tillage and Grassland events. Learners will be expected to contribute towards the transport and entrance fees. 5. Assessment method Although much of the work is assessed in class, some assignment work will have to be carried out in your own time, such as course work.The course is assessed continually through projects, assignments and practical tests.The final qualification will be a Level 3 90-Credit/Extended Diploma in Agriculture and Farm Mechanisation.
