We are looking for self-motivated fashion design and manufacture students with strong potential that are prepared for the challenges and levels of commitment required to study on this course. A high level of enthusiasm for the subject of fashion, and the readiness to embark upon a career in the highly competitive and demanding fashion industry is required because to be successful in the fashion industry takes hard work, passion and determination.

This creative and fast-paced programme of study will encourage you to further develop high level skills in the key aspects of fashion design and manufacture industry-based practice. Our aim is to embed both advanced creative and technical skills with industry awareness and commerciality, to offer you the best opportunities to secure employment upon graduation, in this ever-competitive global industry.

During this final Honours Undergraduate year, you will further develop your signature style through both portfolio and a collection. You will undertake further, in-depth creative and market research, focussing on the design and production of a targeted capsule collection with emphasis on innovative and forward-thinking design, advanced pattern drafting and garment manufacture techniques and an in-depth market awareness and understanding.

Course Description

The B.A. (Hons) Top Up Degree in Fashion Design and Manufacture is developed in close collaboration with the fashion industry and employers. The programme is made up of eight modules, including Personal Professional Development modules, Route Modules and Elective modules:-

Personal Professional Development focus on personal self-evaluation and recognition of your individual skill base and increased awareness of a specific niche within the fashion industry through in-depth market research and portfolio development which is targeted toward your graduate collection.

Major Project A & B enables you to develop wide ranging skills and expertise which is required to work in a professional, creative and commercial environment. You will further develop creative research skills through exploration and development of preliminary ideas, into pattern drafting and toile construction of your graduate collections.

Advanced Fashion Applications

Throughout this module, you work at a professional honours level, using sophisticated and creative garment construction techniques. Innovation will be demonstrated through the realisation of a targeted capsule collection which will be manufactured to industry standard, sealed sample quality.

Advanced Digital Applications encourages you to demonstrate an individual, professional and expressive approach to digital applications, which is reinforced by visual skill and technical understanding.
