To understand management issues in order to develop design solutions that are desirable and cost effective. Students acquire knowledge and experience of using up-to-date technologies and software. Students should be able to realise their own creative project involving the designing and making of a collection of garments and be able to demonstrate their own particular insights into the critical, cultural and professional contexts in which your work is placed. This is a final year degree for Foundation Degree students. You should have completed a Foundation Degree in a related field.

Applicants will be invited to interview and are expected to attend with a portfolio of work that will be the basis of discussion at the interview.

BA (Hons) Fashion Design
Mode: full-time
You will be encouraged to experiment with design ideas, materials and garment-making processes, as well as developing an awareness of new textile technologies and processes.
There will be a focus on design and craft skills, enabling you to meet the challenges of designing and making for the clothing industry – both at home or in an international context.
This course has exciting practical elements complemented by theoretical aspects of design and design management.
You will have access to sophisticated fabric printing facilities and excellent studios including state-of-the-art computer aided design facilities.
You will develop an appreciation of management and business whilst simultaneously developing practical skills.
It is vital that you have good transferable skills so that you can work effectively in a team, plan activities, solve problems efficiently and present your ideas visually.
Areas of study include:
- Developing and Exploring Creative Approaches to the Designing and Making of Garments
- Researching Contexts (including multicultural and international aspects that will support personal approaches to designing and making)
- Preparation of a Garment Collection for Public Display
