This exciting Fashion & Textiles apprenticeship will allow a person to be introduced to the industry and the training and underpinning knowledge will be able to be tailored to fit a wide range of job roles within the Fashion and Textiles whilst working.

Candidates will need to be employed before commencing on these qualifications and will need the go ahead from their employer.

The Apparel pathway of the Intermediate Apprenticeship in Fashion and Textiles gives employers the opportunity to recruit and train a motivated and committed employee, and the apprentice the chance to start their career in the industry and work towards an industry-approved qualification.

The Apprenticeship is flexible so it can suit different types of businesses who require a training programme that can be adapted to suit their specific skills needs and the needs of their apprentice.

Edexcel Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Manufacturing Sewn Products (Competence)

The total credit target is 18 credits. Learners will complete the two Mandatory units and 2 Optional units to achieve 18 credits.

What is the entry process?

You will need a Level 1 qualification and need to be employed in the Fashion/ Textiles Industry to undertake an Apprenticeship.

Bridal Shop Assistant - Someone who works in the Bridal outfitting industry training as a seamstress.

Cloth Cutter - Cloth Cutters lay out and cut materials to form components for the manufacture of sewn products, addressing manual, machine and computer aided operations.

Sewing Machinist - Sewing Machinists stitch sections of material together to make a variety of fabric products, ranging from clothing to soft furnishings.

Hand Presser - Hand Pressers prepare the material for pressing, hand press garments using dry iron, steam iron and vacuum buck pressing methods.

Quality Control Inspector - A Quality Control Inspector is responsible for checking the quality of products within a production run, often making checks at a variety of stages through the process.

Clothing Presser - Clothing Pressers use scissor presses, professional ironing tables and formers to shape garments and remove creases. They typically work for clothing manufacturers or dry cleaning companies.

Dressmaker - Dressmakers produce made-to-measure clothing, such as dresses, skirts and trousers for their customers. They may run small, independent businesses, specialising in a particular type of clothing, such as bridal wear.

Clothing Sewing Machinist - Clothing Sewing Machinists are responsible for stitching together fabric pattern pieces to make garments and soft furnishings. They use many different types of sewing machines, including computerised equipment.

Advanced (Level 3) apprenticeship in fashion & textiles; other Level 3 qualifications in fashion & textiles.
