Fibre Craft & Feltmaking

Course Aims:
This is a new course and it aims to give the student an opportunity to experience and explore a variety of textile crafts, including felt making, stitching, weaving and recycling wool products.
The emphasis is on experimentation combined with fun and in order to offer a wide range skills and development within this area, this course delivery will be taught over 60 hours.

Course Content:
Each student will produce samples of the techniques learnt and keep a folder with the instructions and evidence of research into other textile artists' work. It is also expected that a major piece of work will be produced using at least one of the skills learnt.
Studnets will have the opportunity to make Jewellery, felt booties, bags and a variety of soft furnishing.

There are a range of Art & Design courses offered in the Faculty.

Awarding Body:
NCFE

Exam:
Assessment is informal and ongoing. Students will produce a portfolio of work showing completion/evidence of three mandatory units which are assessed by the tutor and verified by an external NCFE moderator.

Qualification:
NCFE Level 1 or 2 Certificate in Creative Craft (Fibre Crafts)

Level:
Mixed levels will be available. Classes will be mixture of Levels 1 & 2 depending on individual ability.

There will be a materials of 10 per student
