This MSc Film Production helps you develop a critical and practical approach to production workflows, digital film technology, and the creative practices involved in film production.
We focus on helping you grow your creative abilities to a high professional standard. Film production is an increasingly dynamic sector and this course highlights the importance of practice-based research and film projects. Teaching takes place in brand new film production facilities, which includes studios, post-production suites and a sound studio.
The MSc route includes courses on the technological aspects of filmmaking, including cinematography, production practice, film research, and editing. An alternative MA route explores areas such as writing, directing and producing. Optional courses cover topics such as directing screen performance and sound design. You will also use digital camera equipment currently used in the industry, including RED, Canon C300 and Arri Alexa systems.

This course is aimed at students preparing to make the transition from education to employment in the film industry.
The film sector needs graduates with specialist expertise, but also creative thinkers who are deadline-driven and project-minded; capable of managing digital workflows in an enterprising manner, and taking initiative. This is the kind of approach we encourage and help our students to develop.
Career options are wide-ranging. They include studio and location camera work, editing/post-production, screenwriting, producing, TV and commercial work, and multimedia design and production.
You should have a good undergraduate degree, typically at 2.1 or above, in a relevant subject.

The MSc Film Production focuses on the creative application of the technology. Our MA Film Production route focuses on writing and directing.
