About this course

* qualifying degree in any subject* (minimum of a lower second class honours degree) from a recognised UK or Overseas institution.
* International applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate a sufficient command of English by holding an IELTS level 7 score (or equivalent).

*Due to the content of the programme, our aim is recruit students with a solid quantitative background. This may have been gained from an undergraduate degree, from Accredited Prior Learning or work experience.

How is the programme taught?

You will be taught using a combination of the following:

  • small group sessions
  • live lectures
  • online training

The small group sessions in particular will have a strong emphasis on student-centered learning. This means many of the classes will include practical skills sessions in which you will actually do the work of a finance professional rather than just talk about it!

A shared feature across all modules is the systematic use of financial modelling and simulation and the routine use of tutor and peer evaluation.

Whole group sessions will typically be organised around a series of short lectures, in combination with interactive activities such as buzz groups.

Small group sessions will include seminars, workshops, lab classes and Bloomberg sessions.

The standard ratio of whole-group sessions (WGS) and small-group sessions (SGS) is 1:1, allowing for 90 minutes of WGS and 90 minutes of SGS in a typical week (per module).

In addition, you will have the opportunity to access some of the live lectures in recordings via the Business School's online Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

Assessment

The programme is assessed on a module-by-module basis using a combination of coursework, closed-book examinations and a supervised independent project.

Programme materials will contain mock assessments, revision packs and consolidation activities to fully prepare you for the real assessments.

Formal and informal feedback is given throughout the programme to help you achieve success and maximise your potential.
