Introduction:
The programme has been developed for individuals working at a managerial level to assist them to analyse and interpret financial information produced within the firm for internal and external users; prepare and appraise simple financial statements and; evaluate the financing structures of business organisations. It will be suitable for candidates working in, or interested in working in, all sizes and types of organisations across all UK sectors including:

  • Managers, or potential managers, who possess an A Level equivalent qualification and who are looking to further their knowledge of finance and seek University qualifications
  • Experienced managers without formal qualifications who show an ability to benefit from the course
  • Team leaders and junior managers who wish to develop their careers at a higher level



Study Mode & Location:
One module studied on a part time basis over one semester at Fulwood Campus or the City Business Centre.

One module which covers the following topics:

  • Financial information produced within the firm
  • The different forms of business organisation
  • Legal accountability
  • Provision of information management
  • Analysis and interpretation of limited company financial statements and performance indicators
  • Other sources of information about the company
  • Sources of business finance and capital structures
  • Cost associated with different forms of financing
  • Budgeting and cost information



Assessment:
The module will be assessed by one written assignment and one presentation/report.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
The programme will develop your skills in financial management so that you will be better equipped to progress onto an HNC or Foundation degree in Business or Accounting.
