The financial system is a complex set of credit and debt relationships of a dynamic and multi-relational type, built on a dense network of contractual links that connects - through the direct channel of financial markets and the indirect channel of financial intermediaries - all actors of the economic system. The financial system feeds on information (macroeconomic, including forecasts, political-social, microeconomic, etc.), including non-public ones, and produces information (in terms of prices of financial instruments traded in organized markets) necessary for economic operators to define their investment plans and strategies and, in a word, to make the economy work in general. The financial system has a significant international connotation due to the strong interdependence of national financial systems, by virtue of the interconnections between the various capital markets of all developed countries and the widespread contractual relations between international intermediaries and other subjects belonging to all countries that allow the free movement of capital. It is a function of vital importance for the resilience and development of economic activity on a global scale.
