This is for those that want to stretch their artistic capabilities and take experimental risks in 2D and mixed media. The focus is on materials, techniques and processes where you'll get the opportunity to combine media in inventive and non-traditional ways. This is a 2 year linear A-level where you are examined on the whole syllabus at the end of the second year.

Course programme
How will I study?
The kinds of skills that are covered include: drawing, painting, mixed media, print and life drawing, with the exploration of traditional and non traditional materials and techniques. These are covered in coursework projects and externally set exam questions. You'll experiment with a broad range of image making processes and examine the work of contemporary and historical artists work. The course work includes a series of workshop activities including painting techniques, introduction to printmaking processes and life drawing sessions. In the second year you'll develop your skills further through a self initiated personal investigation project.
How will I be taught?
Practical art and design lessons twice a week that are creative, thought provoking and aim for maximum participation.
How will I be assessed?
This is a 2 year linear A-level where you are examined on the whole syllabus at the end of the year 2. Each project is assessed as a portfolio of work. Work is assessed at the college and moderated by the exam board. You will be assessed at the end of year one to see if you can progress to year 2.
