Extra Curricular Activities
All students can add to their main programme of study by taking part in a wide range of clubs, groups, societies and courses. Not only are the activities fun, they also develop skills and provide new and fulfilling experiences, as well as enhancing applications to Higher Education and employment.

What is the course about?
This one to two year course aims to develop your problem-solving ability and practical skills in 2D and 3D areas of study.
The course is taught through a set of briefs and workshops. You are actively encouraged to develop work from direct observation on themes such as still life, the figure and landscape through drawing, painting mixed media, sculpture and relief work. There are facilities to explore work in a variety of 3D media including metal, concrete, clay, plaster, plastics and glass. Historical contemporary contextual studies are important elements of this course. This will support your practical work so that your responses show an understanding of different styles, genres and traditions.
The AS Fine Art programme of study comprises of 2 units that may lead to study a further 2 units at A2 Level. Each unit is centre-assessed and externally moderated.
Units are internally assessed and externally moderated. There is an externally set exam at the end of AS and A2.

AS: 2 projects; 5 hour practical exam (to include 4 week preparatory work)

A2: 1 project; 15 hour exam (to include 6 weeks preparatory work; thesis.
