The course explores a multidisciplinary approach to include media, film and photography.
The course aims to support you in the development of crucial skills and approaches to enable you to become a professional fine artist. This involves making practical and personal responses to ideas and concepts through the vehicle of drawing, painting, lens-based experimentation, mixed media, installation, sculpture and printmaking.
In the first year you will be involved in a series of skill building workshops in addition to units designed to help you think creatively. In the second year you set your own agenda and develop your personal practice to reflect your own themes and interests. Alongside the development of your personal practice as a fine artist you will also be involved in contextual studies which focus on late 20th century art history and current debates within contemporary art theory and practice. During the course there will be numerous opportunities to exhibit at external venues culminating each year in the graduation exhibition. Supported by the business and professional practice units this involves researching spaces, fundraising, marketing and curating the final show.
