Course programme

Phase 1: Postgraduate Certificate in Fine Art Module 1: Research Practice 1 (Orientation and Context) 30 credits The first two modules of the course are designed to involve undertaking a critical review of your current practice to date. To facilitate this, module 1 has identified broad frameworks for you to consider. The emphasis is on critical experimentation, re establishing practice through research, and a questioning of established routines. Module 2: Research Practice 2 (Context and Practice) 30 credits The research pattern for the two modules in Phase 1 should be seen as a continuum and the framework responses can be considered separately or concurrently through your studio practice. The emphasis in this module is on critical experimentation and a questioning of established routines through an objective deconstruction of existing practice. Phase 2: Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Art Module 3: Advanced Studio Practice 1 (Application and Collaboration) 30 credits In this module the application of studio practice is considered and you will be encouraged to develop a collaboration project with a partner organization, institution, group or individual practitioner. Module 4: Advanced Studio Practice 2 (Towards Resolution) 30 credits Module 4 provides an opportunity to develop skills in research and critical reflection building on acquired knowledge so far on the course, and to use these skills to develop a proposal for the MA project and exhibition. Phase 3: MA Fine Art Module 5: Exhibition Practice (Resolution and Synthesis) 60 credits Phase 3 involves the development and production of a substantive manifestation of coherent and critically robust original work that will represent the level achieved through individual creative practice.
