All Fine Art students have their own studio space as well as access to bespoke workshop areas which include 3d, printmaking( including flat bed and silk screen, laser print fabric) , photography, film editing studio, sound editing, textiles and performance art areas.

Year 1 (Level 4) - 120 credits The Fine Art and Professional Practice programme focuses on experimentation and research within multi disciplinary discipline areas, including Drawing, Painting, Digital and 3D practices. These subject areas are interlinked through a series of tutor led Hands-on Technical Methods and processes workshops.These include instructional workshops in spatial articulation through drawing methodologies , Life Drawing, Sculpture, Film and digital production . You are encouraged to explore and experiment within all these areas. A broad ranging Professional Practice and Critical Studies programme, of visiting speakers, lectures and seminars offer support and establish a context for studio practice.

Year 2 (Level 5) - 120 credits Year 2 builds upon experiences gained in Year 1. Specific in depth technical methods and processes in all three disciplines continue to inform your studio practice, as you gain insights into the potential of each medium, and develop your personal Fine Art Identity. The external industrial placement part of Professional Practice covers commercial, community and studio based practices. This is unique amongst Fine Art course, and we feel is of paramount importance in enabling you to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the real Creative Industries, and help determine the course of your Fine Art practice for Year 3, and more importantly your future career aspirations.

  • FAPP506 Developing a Fine Art Language for Professional Practice (20 credits )

Year 3 (Level 6) - 120 credits

In Year 3 you will develop and refine a body of work based on your emerging Fine Art Identity and the exploration of Concepts and Ideas formed on previous Year`s 1 and 2. Your Professional Practice profile culminates with the consolidation of your personal aims and future career aspirations. This final year enables you to synthesise concept and studio practice. This body of work culminates in a Final Exhibition.
