The Fire Regulations for commercial buildings changed in October 2006, meaning that even if you have a fire certificate, you will now need to conduct a fire risk assessment. All businesses are affected by the new fire regulations and it is the employer's responsibility to ensure that a thorough fire risk assessment has been carried out and its recommendations implemented.
Every company that has 5 or more employees must have a written fire risk policy statement in place. Our training managers will examine all aspects of your operation in detail, then provide a comprehensive written report including any recommendations to improve your existing procedures. A fire risk policy satement will also be issued.
Areas covered by your Fire Risk Assessment:
- Your legal duties
- Fire Marshall duties
- Causes of fire
- Fire extinguishers
- Alarm systems
- Employer responsibilities
- Emergency plans and procedures
- Identifying hazards
- Smoking
- Arson
- Storage
- Fire warning
What then?
The report is usually received within 10 days of the Fire Risk Assessment taking place.
