About this course

Standard entry to this course requires one reference. It is desirable that you can demonstrate 90% attendance. A GCSE in both English and maths at grade 3 (D) or above is required, plus 2 additional GCSE subjects at Grade 3 (D) or above.



Consideration will be given to all applicants over the age of 19 who do not hold formal English and maths qualifications.

Course programme

Year 1

Students study a number of units throughout the course: anatomy and physiology; principles of exercise; circuit training; planning gym-based exercise; instructing gym based exercise; knowing how to support clients; and health and safety. Students will also undertake relevant work experience relating to the fitness industry. There is an element of directed study on this programme.

Additional information

Assessment will take place via a variety of methods, with some units being external exams whilst others are practical assessment or workbooks.
