About this course

A minimum of 15 weeks, two days a week, will be spent on an organised placement in one of a number of settings applicable to forensic psychology and practice, including high, medium and low security hospitals, youth offending teams, children's homes, child protection teams, or you may prefer a research placement.
This course is accredited by the Forensic Psychology Division of the British Psychological Society (BPS) as an accredited Stage 1 masters programme. On successful completion, you can continue with further training to become a Chartered Forensic Psychologist.
We put an emphasis on student-led learning. For example, you will regularly present journal articles on topics taught in lectures and receive feedback from staff and your student peers.
You will receive one-to-one supervision during your placement and dissertation. This will allow you to reflect on your learning experiences and to discuss your placement and your research interests.
The course benefits from regular guest speakers who are active practitioners in the area of forensic psychology. For example, we have had speakers with expertise of working in prison services, women's services, and other specialist services eg Broadmoor Hospital.

This course is open to those applicants who normally have achieved an upper second class degree in psychology with BPS accreditation.

This course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). It draws on Kingston University's established expertise in psychology and criminology.
