This course is for learners with mild to moderate learning disabilities who wish to develop the academic, personal and social skills to enable progression to vocational pathways within ILS or departments within the mainstream provision in college. Students will be able to build their self-confidence and self-belief within a supported learning environment to enable successful progression. The course will also focus on developing the essentials skills of communication and application of number. Applicants will need to attend a successful interview to make sure the course is right for them. Students attend classes in small groups (a maximum of 12) with a Tutor and Learning Support Assistants. Each learner has an individual learning plan (ILP). Outside visits and guest speakers will be included to assist learning. A variety of assessment methods are used including observations. Assessments will be completed in class time. After 1 year, you can progress on to: All learners will have regular tutorials, careers education guidance and access to pastoral support.
