A Level
A Foundation Apprenticeship is a work based learning programme where the learner is 'earning while learning'. The programme is aimed at learners over the age of 16. The Apprentice will be employed and receive at least the national minimum Apprenticeship wage (this could be more at the employer's discretion). The Apprentice will attend College on a day release basis and should achieve the Level 2 Apprenticeship Framework within the agreed timescale.
About this course
The only mandatory entry requirements are that you have a basic ability in literacy and numeracy and that you are employed as an apprentice carpenter. However, any of the following would be an advantage: Previous experience in the construction industry Welsh Baccalaureate NVQ Diploma in a construction craft A levels/GCSE'sWork experience and positive attitude Pre apprenticeship/14/19 learning These programmes are part financed by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government.

Course programme
- All learners will be supported by a Training Adviser/Assessor who will monitor progress towards achieving targets on a regular basis
- The Training Adviser/Assessor will liaise closely with the employer to ensure that qualifications are achieved within timescale
- The Training Adviser/Assessor will assess the Apprentice in the workplace as and when required
Learners who have successfully completed this Foundation Apprenticeship are qualified to work on a construction site as a carpenter and can apply for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card. They can also progress onto an Apprenticeship in carpentry at Level 3.
