Programme Description:
The Foundation Level 1 course offers students an excellent introduction to college life and to the world of further education. It is aimed at those returning to education, students who may require some additional support with their studies or personal life or those who have not yet decided on a vocational pathway.
The course is delivered over 4 days a week covering vocational areas, skills improvement and “core” subjects.
There are six Level 1 vocational options available and students will specialise in two from: Sport, ICT, Hair/Beauty, Creative Media, Health and Social Care and Public Services.

Course programme
Programme Features:
Students on the Foundation course will receive additional support with their learning and will be assigned a Learner Support Mentor. The Foundation tutor team are experienced and skilled in delivering teaching and learning to students requiring additional support and motivation to re-engage them in education.
Towards the end of the course students will receive careers support and guidance to help them select a suitable progression route.
Programme Content:
The “core” elements will include the:
- Two Level 1 certificates in vocational areas of choice from Sport, ICT, Hair/Beauty, Creative Media, Health and Social Care and Public Services
- Princes Trust Level 1 certificate in Personal Development and Employability Skills
- Essential skills (including Numeracy and Communication)
- Full and resit GCSE Maths or English where applicable
