Introduction:
The Foundation Degree is a qualification which allows greater flexibility in career development with guaranteed progression to an honours degree course for successful students.

Study Mode & Location:
This is a two year (full-time) or three year (part-time) course. It will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
This programme is modular and aims to provide an introduction to the main areas involved in the study of business including:

• Marketing
• Finance & Economics
• Human Resource Management
• Business & Management Practice
• Business Law

Optional units are available in:

• Finance
• Marketing
• Human Resource Management

The course is vocationally relevant and focuses on business practice.

Assessment:
Assessment is via a combination of coursework, a portfolio of work-based learning and an end of module examination.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
This full time programme has been developed to meet the needs of the major functions in business and has been developed with career progression and professional recognition in mind. The qualification is recognised by major professional bodies and employers in both the private and public sectors as appropriate for supervisory, junior and middle management appointments. The course allows successful students to progress to a BA (Hons) Degree in Business Administration at the University of Central Lancashire. Students may also gain entry to other business related degrees and professional qualification.

Requirement
Potential students must be aged 18 or over and meet the College`s minimum entry requirements for higher education courses (80 UCAS points plus a Level 2 equivalent in English and Maths), holding qualifications in relevant subjects or having relevant work experience. Candidates may also be admitted if they can demonstrate an ability to benefit from the course. Places are offered subject to a successful interview.
