Introduction 2 year course. All students must be at least 18 years of age.
This innovative course provides an excellent, flexible, framework which offers academic progression and professional practitioner development to meet the needs of individuals who wish to develop a career in complementary healthcare. It also offers enrichment to health and social care and health care practitioners/providers.
The course allows for the exploration and acquisition of essential concepts which underpin a range of complementary therapies and the practice of complementary medicine in the contemporary provision of allied health care.
This course is structured to enable development of professional practitioner status in the three following therapies:
· Reflexology
· Aromatherapy
· Body massage
Further Opportunities Over the duration of the course you will be able to achieve status as a fully qualified practitioner of Reflexology and Massage after the first year and Aromatherapy after the second year. This staged achievement will enable one to apply for registration and membership of the Association of Reflexologists (AOR) and the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (IFPA). On successful completion of the two-year course, you will have the skills to enable you to practice in a multi-professional environment. The range of employment possibilities includes:
· Private practice
· Employment within a range of Allied Healthcare provisions
· Employment in a leisure complex or spa environment
· Complementary medicine clinics
Successful candidates can continue their study towards the BSc (Hons) Complementary Medicine in Healthcare with our collaborative partner, Thames Valley University. The majority of modules on this one-year course are distance learning or blended learning (distance learning with master classes) to accommodate practitioners who are working or running a clinical practice.
