Course programme
This is an exciting opportunity to gain a formal qualification in computing. The Foundation Degree in Computing is designed to develop both academic skills and the skills required for employment in the computer industry.
What qualifications or experience do I need ?Minimum entry requirements for students under 21 is 120 UCAS tariff points. Mature students (over 21 years) will need to demonstrate they have adequate skills in Maths and English to enable them to complete the programme, and some relevant background experience in Computing.
What will I study ?All students will study: Core Skills - Scholarship, Website Production, Information Systems and Databases, Introduction to Programming, Computer Platforms Networking Fundamentals, Project, Web Programming, Database Theory and Practice, Systems Analysis and Design All students must undertake an internship of 2 days a week for 4 months, during which they complete a project and write a report on the work they have done.
How will I be assessed ?Assessment will be through: Practical Coursework, Written assignments Project work, an Extended Project and Time Constrained Assignments
What qualifications could I achieve ?On successful completion of this course, students will achieve a Foundation Degree in Computing validated by Bolton University
