Introduction
The Foundation Degree in Creative Arts for Employment is aimed at people who wish to add to earlier educational or relevant work experience across a broad range of art, craft and design practice. This may include painting, sculpture, ceramics, crafts, textiles and photography.
Course Content
The course involves attendance at Leek College all day Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Students are expected to be pursuing their own art, craft or design practice during the rest of the week.
The course covers visual studies, contextual studies, development of critical skills and the skills required to run a small art, craft or design business. Students have access to the art department†s wide range of resources as well as cross-college learning resources such as the library and IT based learning.
Progression
This three year part-time course is equivalent to the first two years of a full BA honours degree. Successful students may progress from this course to the third year of a full-time BA honours degree course in art & design at Staffordshire University.
Fees
Foundation Degree normally cost £800 per year. However, you may be entitled to a grant of up to £920
