This course  is intended to equip learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to meet the increasing demand on childcare practitioners in early years settings. It comprises the first two levels of a degree with opportunities to complete the honours degree through our top-up course. There is also the opportunity to progress to early years professional status and qualified teacher status. The course is designed to support those childcare practitioners who wish to progress their development and pursue some of the many opportunities currently available for career development in the childcare and early years sector.

A range of assessment techniques will be used such as essays, reports, presentations, an examination, and professional development portfolios.

How will the course be delivered?

The course will be delivered through a combination of lectures and seminars with the opportunity for individual and group work. All students will undertake private study to complement and extend the learning in the classroom. In addition, all students will have regular tutorials and implement learning in the workplace . Students will be expected to participate in weekly forums on the College virtual learning environment’.
