This is a two-year programme designed to give students a broad range of knowledge and experience in the areas of English and History.
Foundation Degrees combine academic study with work-based learning. The educational aim of the programme is to facilitate acquisition of appropriate knowledge and understanding and the development of the necessary personal attributes.
In addition students will master the essential skills which will equip and prepare them for continuing personal development, academic study and professional training.

About this course

Having achieved 240 credits and completed the FD English and History award, students may progress onto the final year of courses at University of South Wales including the BA (Hons) English and History

A typical offer is:

Other qualifications may be considered. All non-standard applications are referred to the course leader for approval.

The Foundation Degree in English and History prepares students for careers in areas including: teaching; law; research; accountancy; journalism; administration; information management; marketing; sales and advertising; business and finance; social welfare; the media, educational work in schools/museums.

The work based element of the programme will have a local focus e.g. working with local history societies.

Delivery modes: Full time – (two years, 120 credits each year) Year 1: 120 credits Level 4 (Sept – June) Year 2: 120 credits Level 5 (Sept – June) Please ask about part time options. The course will be timetabled over three days. UCAS institution code: G59, course code: Q3V1, institution code name: GCOLS, short form of course: Eng and Hist Tuition fees are £7,500 per year. For academic year 2019/20, students will need to get a tuition fee loan for the full amount. The College is offering a £1,000 bursary per year towards full time HE courses starting in September 2019 (this is dependant on satisfactory course progression).
