About this courseFashion styling is about developing an 'image' to promote a product, company or person. Stylists work throughout every aspect of the creative industries, including advertising, fashion, retail, merchandising and beauty. You will be expected to develop a portfolio that demonstrates application of both fashion and business skills and you will gain experience of working independently and as a member of a team.
You will be introduced to the practical and technical aspects of working in fashion styling, studying everything from trend prediction and customer awareness, to branding, merchandising, fashion promotion and retail. In preparation for setting up your own business you will also be introduced to aspects of financing and managing a company.
There will be studio based teaching, technical workshops and work based learning that will give you relevant experience to help you in your future career. You will also be assessed by group critiques, projects, portfolios of work, presentations, essays, reports and other forms of written work. Part of your course will include a work placement.
