What is the course about?
This course is designed for people looking at pursuing careers in nursingk, community and the voluntary sectors. The study programme has been tailored towards undergraduates looking for academic and practical based learning. The Foundation Degree in Health has been designed to meet modern workforce requirements.

Course Structure
Part-time (one late afternoon and evening a week at Selby College).

Entry Requirements
What will I study?
Level 4
A variety of units including: health policy, introduction to research, health and society, professional development [work-based learning], working with people in health and social care and human growth and development which looks at biological and psychological aspects as well as undertaking sessions on study skills.
Level 5
At Level 5 you will study psychology in care settings and legal aspects as well as continuing professional development [work-based learning].

Learning Methods
Assessment is based on a mixture of assignments, case studies, research and problem solving tasks, presentations and group work. A common feature is assessment of your ability to relate theory to practice. Study skills will also be developed to enable life long learning and progression to Honours Degree level if desired.

Assessment Methods
Assessment for the course will be mainly assignment based although there will be two short examination papers.

Fieldwork/Practical experience
Workplace based study and assessment are integral to the course

Progression Routes
On successful completion of the programme students can progress into careers in either nursing or health related work by doing a Full-time Degree at The University of Hull or other Higher Education institutions.
