What will I study?
The programme is intended to provide an educational foundation for a wide range of careers within the computing and information technology industry. You will develop your skills in working both as a individual and as member of a team. The Foundation Degree addresses the latest innovations in technology and business systems management. It offers a balance between program development, computing theory and the use of applications to satisfy business needs. Teaching and learning will involve a number of different methods; a blend of lectures, workshop activities, work-based learning.
How can I progress?
The Foundation Degree is intended to enhance career opportunities. There is also the opportunity to complete an honours degree in the equivalent of 15 months full-time study. Further study may be possible at Edge Hill, or other colleges and universities, depending on the match between the modules that you have studied and the top-up routes offered by different institutions.

Course Structure
Part one modules will cover topics such as: Developing your own learning; Software Solutions; Business Organisations and Systems; Introduction to Computer Systems Architecture; Introduction to GUI Applications Programming; Systems Analysis and Local Area Network. Part two modules will cover topics such as: Introduction to Object Orientated Programming; Programming for Distributed Systems; Computer Communications; Introduction to Databases; Knowledge Based Systems; Group project; Web Site Design and Management; Project Management; Supporting End users and Work Experience Report; E-commerce Application Building.
