This course aims to prepare students for a career as a designer/maker of three-dimensional design crafts. Practical and Creative development is underpinned by theoretical studies. Year 1: A series of projects introduce students to: design principles; ideas generation and design development; 2D visualisation including drawing techniques, printmaking, CAD; Properties of 3D materials- Clay, plaster, wood, metals, plastics and glass; Production methods for ceramics, glass, jewellery; historical, contextual and professional studies. Year 2: Individually written project briefs, enabling students to develop specialism in ceramics, glass or jewellery. Design and production skills are developed through work placement and studio practice. Knowledge is further developed through professional practice and critical skills.

Course Content
