FOUNDATION DEGREE IN TRAVEL AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT

Who is this course for?
This course aims to provide you with appropriate education and training for a wide range of management careers in the travel and tourism industry.

2 years full-time, 2.5 years part time

The full Foundation Degree consists of twelve modules (240 CATS points). Full time students are required to complete a six month industrial placement from June to December and are encouraged to seek employment overseas. This programme is being revalidated in May 2009 and some modules may change.

What can I do after the course?

Successful students have availed of employment opportunities in a range of management positions with: Tourist Information Centres, Travel Agents, Airlines, Cruise ships, Ferry Companies, Visitor Attractions, Conference Centres, Event Management Companies and Hotels.

On completion of the Foundation Degree students can progress to the BA (Hons) in Hotel and Tourism Management which is offered part time at SRC. You may have the opportunity to participate in a two-week overseas educational exchange visit that is funded by the British Council under the Socrates programme.

In addition you may also have the opportunity to gain additional relevant industry qualifications such as 'Ready for Take Off' and Galileo Reservations Certificate.
