Introduction
This course has been specially designed for students aiming for a career in animal conservation.
It provides a combination of academic study, with hands-on training and experience in animal conservation.
Students will gain a broad base of knowledge and skills such as radio tracking, species identification, live trapping techniques, animal first aid, reintroduction to natural habitat, wildlife documentary, photography and film production, biodiversity and bushcraft.
You will have regular contact with animals in our fully licensed zoo and work in the field will expand your knowledge of wild animal behaviour and conservation. You will also benefit from our new laboratory and training facilities and enjoy off-site visits and optional international study tours.

Length of the course

Requirement
A minimum of 200-240 UCAS points, of which 180-200 points must be obtained from GCE A Levels, including a grade C in either Applied Science, Biology, Chemistry, Human Biology, Science or *Psychology (*must be offered in combination with either AS Level Biology or AS Level Human Biology). Remaining points may be achieved from GCE AS Levels, or from Level 3 Key Skills. BTEC National Diploma/Certificate (Animal Care, Animal Management or Applied Science): merit/distinction profile Irish/Scottish Highers Grade B in 4 subjects, including Biology, Chemistry or Human Biology International Baccalaureate: 24 points, including 4 in Biology or Chemistry QAA recognised Access to HE Diploma (Science), Open College Units OR Open University Credits in Biology-related subject Foundation Degree in Animal Management is required for the 1 year top up option
