As Project Manager and then Director of a successful LSP, I have read hundreds of linguist CVs, from all over the world. I needed to quickly and efficiently find the right linguist for the job.

Having to read three or four pages of intense information just to find out in what country someone was educated, was a ‘no-no’, and if a CV landed in front of me which appeared hard to decipher, I’d simply move on to a CV which was easier to navigate.

Your CV is usually the first impression that a potential client, agency or employer has of you. It must include the skills, achievements and experiences which relate to the role you are applying for, and crucially, in the right way.

It's also to your benefit for it to communicate who you are as a person, and hopefully contains some elements which make you stand out from other language professionals for the right reasons. Your personality, approach to work and flexible, professional attitude is really important.
