This course combines well with a variety of other advanced level courses but espescially AS/A Level English, History, Business studies, Law, ICT, Politics or BTECs in Business, IT, Travel & Tourism.

All students can add to their main programme of study by taking part in a wide range of clubs, groups, societies and courses. Not only are the activities fun, they also develop skills and provide new and fulfilling experiences, as well as enhancing applications to Higher Eductaion and employment.

What is the course about?
A Level French builds on the knowledge and skills learnt studying GCSE French. You will develop your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary and communicate your views on various subjects related to French life and culture.
Students may choose to do work experience in France. This usually take splace during February half term.

AS Level - Year 1
The AS course introduces you to general topic areas with the emphasis on understanding source materials and expressing your views. In Unit 1 you will converse in French on a chosen topic area. In Unit 2 you will explore the topic areas through reading and writing.
The AS topic areas include youth culture, lifestyles, tourism and the environment, and education and employment.

A2 Level - Year 2
The second year of the course expands the range of topic areas and you will learn how to communicate in more formal contexts. in Unit 3 you will develop your speaking and listening skills. In Unit 4 you will write discursive and creative essays based on your own research into one of the topic areas.
The A2 topic areas include customs and traditions, national and international events, and literature and the arts, in addition to the AS topics.
